In an inexplicable worldwide event, forty-seven extraordinary children were spontaneously born by women who had previously shown no signs of pregnancy. Millionaire inventor Reginald Hargreeves adopted seven of the children; when asked why, his only explanation was, 'To save the world.' These seven children form The Umbrella Academy, a dysfunctional family of superheroes with bizarre powers. Their first adventure at the age of ten pits them against an erratic and deadly Eiffel Tower, piloted by the fearsome zombie-robot Gustave Eiffel. Nearly a decade later, the team disbands, but when Hargreeves unexpectedly dies, these disgruntled siblings reunite just in time to save the world once again.

I friggen loved the opening. It had me with its fun fresh take on tried true story and a loving dash of wierd with lush Hellboy style art. But it was a loose hold and by the 3rd book/part I was over it. I still enjoyed it, but meh, lets just get violinant to fix the worlds problums, meh I've seen to many books do that to care. There is definatly lots of love and creativity ingraned in the concept and art.

I had the series mailed to me as a kid. It's such an amazing, complex story that I couldn't help but find a bit of myself in the characters this comic centers around.

Story about a group of adopted siblings, all but one of whom have powers. A powerful superhero team in their youth, they have since grown apart. Reunited by the death of their mentor, they are drawn into a battle when a mysterious villain corrupts one of their own.

Very well done. Loved the story and the art. If you like Hellboy/BPRD you should check this book out.

This is a beautiful book. Like Royal Tennenbaums meet X-Men. Don't let the light artwork fool you. This is a fully-fleshed out comic. The artwork is fantastic, BTW
