INTRODUCING THE ALPHA AND OMEGA NOVELS...
Anna never knew werewolves existed until the night she survived a violent attack…and became one herself. After three years at the bottom of the pack, she’d learned to keep her head down and never, ever trust dominant males. But Anna is that rarest kind of werewolf: an Omega. And one of the most powerful werewolves in the country will recognize her value as a pack member—and as his mate.
Baker & Taylor
After years at the bottom of the pack, Anna has learned never to trust dominant males, until Charles Cornick, the enforcer and leader of the North American werewolves, declares her his mate, revealing her destiny as an Omega wolf.

Summary
Add a SummaryAnna is moving in with Charles and learning what having a real pack is like. The mating bond just isn't connecting between her and Charles though because of what her old pack leader did to her. (rape and abuse) Since she's an Omega (basically a werewolf who transcends the dominant/submissive code as well as having the ability to soothe the inner wolf on others) the abuse hit her harder. There's also a rouge wolf on the loose and a sinister witch from a pack member's past. The plot is a little slower in the beginning but picks up right away after that. The tone of the book is more subdued and nervous but that's perfect for Anna's story.

anna and charlie
Generally entertaining. A wee bit of a drag near the end.
This is a great book for those who have read the Mercy Thompson books, as it builds on some of the characters mentioned. I would also recommend it for those who read the Twilight series but wished for a character with more depth. Anna is a werewolf that was abused from the time she was turned until when Charles came to her rescue and killed the Chicago Alpha wolf. She falls for him and is swept off to Montana, where she has no connections other than him. Her strong moral sense as well as her insecurities about who she is makes her a complex character who is struggling to find her place. The secondary characters also have depth, whether it is a haunting past or a painful future. One of them is Asil, whose past returns to haunt him, making for a gripping plotline.
This is the first full book in the ALPHA AND OMEGA series, but readers should begin with “Alpha and Omega,” a novella in the "On the Prowl" anthology which tells the very beginning of Anna and Charles's love story. "Cry Wolf: begins just where the novella leaves off. Here are the titles for the series in reading order: “Alpha and Omega” in the "On the Prowl" anthology (2007); “Seeing Eye” in "Strange Brew" anthology (2009); "Cry Wolf" (2008); "Hunting Ground" (2009). A third book is planned for January 2012. This World is the "country" side of the MERCY THOMPSON World. Many of the same characters appear in both series.
A good book. Not quite up to the level of the Mercy Thompson books, but still a really good shapeshifter novel.
This series is set in the same world as Mercy Thompson's world. Samuel's brother Charles (Bran's enforcer)and Anna his newfound mate are sent out by Bran to track down a roge werewolf in the woods and hopefully experience their mate bond while they are out there. The story was exciting and had me reading as fast as I could. I HIGHLY recommend reading Patricia Briggs short story "Alpha and Omega" which you can find in the book "On the Prowl" which is the true beginning of the story,as cry wolf literally picks up right where the short story leaves off. You also won't get a real understanding of Anna without reading it. It really does make Cry Wolf that much better of a read. Patricia Briggs scores again.
A great book, the first in the series. You should read Briggs short story in On the Prowl first to understand the beginning of the story. If you like the Mercy Thompson books you'll love this series. It's about an abused women trying to fit into her new world and falling in love.
I already liked Patricia Briggs then I read this book. It was amazing and I really liked Anna as a character.
Set in the same world as the Mercy Thompson books, this tells the story of Sam's brother Charles and his mate Anna. Stop and read the short story in the "On The Prowl" anthology first though - so that you get the begining of the story. These are just as awesome as the Mercy Thompson books!
