And as Rebus's investigation gains ground, someone brutally assaults a local gangster with whom he has a long history. Has Rebus overstepped his bounds for the last time? Add a CommentThe book gets bogged down with a political aspect, although relevant due to nationality of the first dead victim. However, when Rebus solves the mystery the reason for the crime is a domestic dispute...so why the time spent on the red herrings? Other than that compliant, I enjoyed the plotting, Rebus' relationship with Siobhan, and the idea that even good guys can do wrong.
It looks like it's time for Detective Inspector Rebus to make room for the new generation. He had a good run
