When it happens by Susane Colasanti is a quick, light hearted read that will have you cheering and laughing out loud. The story revolves around Sarah and Toby, both seniors in High school. Sarah really wants this guy - Dave to ask her out and Toby wants Sarah to fall in love with him. I really liked the characters in this book, the were funny and it was interesting to read the girl's and well as the boy's take on falling in love. I also really liked the contrast between the two characters, Toby was a musician who mouths off to teachers and Sarah was a studious girl who is determined to get into the university of her dreams. I know this set up is a bit generic, but it works for me every time. I also really liked how both Sarah and Toby were looking for "the one" as opposed to just looking for a girlfriend/boyfriend in high school. Their conversations were extremely deep and I wondered if people even have conversations like this in real life. I guess that was just to prove that they were soul mates. The title says When it Happens, like love is just supposed to knock on your door and you say "Oh well, I see it's time to fall in love now." I always thought that love was supposed to be something gradual, Sarah and Toby themselves take a long time to like each other. I always thought the title should be "Something real" as that came up often in the book, the idea of finding someone real, not just finding someone to make out with. Overall, this was a great read and it brushed on other topics as well, the book wasn't solely on dating. I recommend this book to people 12 and older.

The one reason it got 11/2 stars and not 1 is because I liked the idea. Thats it! The characters were really terrible and all their love wasn't love at all. It was just teens who 'wanted some'. I didn't like this book, and when I did want to read this book, someone posted a review similar to mine and I didn't listen.

This book was alright. it was kind of boring at some parts in the book and it's a really long book.

So I love love LOVED this book! It was kind of slow at first, but thst made it more real. their relationship was so cute. I would seriously get lost in the book. I really wish I was Sara lol, bvecauase Toby was like the greatest guy EVER. Especially... well I wont spoil it, but it is an amazing book and I definitely reccomend it.

i found this story very slow and boring. it took FOREVER for them to get together, and their chemistry was horrible. i mean, they talked about random things that weren't all that interesting..and they liked each other when they didn't really know the other person. the only reason i kept reading was that I hate not finishing a story once I've started.

I liked it soo much!!!! They always say opposite's attract! I liked Sara and Tobey... but ii really wish that the smart friend would go out with the one who always gives advice for Tobey and always has a plan.

"How did this happen again? What exactly did I do wrong?"
"Well, since you asked," Mike says, "it's like this: One, you were too much of a wimp to say anything to her. Two, you went back to school with no plan. Dave had a plan. He got Sara. You got nada." Mike leans back, balancing on the back legs of the chair."Zilch. Zero. You didn't even have the balls to go up to her. Dude. I warned you this would happen."
"Thanks. I feel so much better now."
