These books always teach about the specifics of the battles and wars at hand with a keen eye towards ensuring our attention without too many details. The Shaara books are always fascinating and always offer new insights into the subject.

I will say, though, that in teh case of this book, many of the topics covered have had numerous, numerous previous tellings and retellings. I will be reading the last European theater book soon and will be interested to see how that goes.

D-Day and the summer and fall of 1944 dominate this book, the middle portion of a trilogy about World War Two in Europe. Shaara exceeds expectations and crafts an extraordinary novel.
