This is an excellent series we've watched several times. Victorian England, usual BBC/PBS British excellence, about a woman (Gemma Jones, actress) whose goal is to be independent and to become England's greatest cook. She ultimately owns a hotel, comes to the notice of the Prince of Wales, deals with a highly negative mother and whimpish father and derelict brother. Recommended for everyone, except perhaps for young children who would not comprehend parts of it. Great acting and story line. The entire series, beyond this group, goes from early 20th century into WWI and beyond.
