Dear Library Patrons, The mission of NYPL is to inspire lifelong learning, advance knowledge, and strengthen our communities. Government support only pays for a portion of our work, so we rely on you to help - from stocking our shelves with amazing books, expanding our e-Book selection, classes, events, or even making free WiFi accessible to all. We are trying to raise $500,000 by December 31: an ambitious goal, but one that will fund incredible learning and reading in our community. Britain's T. Rex, headed by teen-idol, Marc Bolan (singer, guitarist, composer), emerged upon the Pop Music scene in the early 1970s where they embraced and quickly became the epitome of the "Glam-Rock" sub-genre, which also housed the likes of David Bowie._____ Released in 1972, Slider would be T. Rex's 3rd offering, reaching almost immediate #1 status on the record charts in both the UK and America._____ Slider, which features such solid hits as Metal Guru, Rabbit Fighter and Telegram Sam, is a perfect way to get introduced to the unique sound of glam-rockers, T. Rex._____ *Note of interest* - In 1977, at the age of 29, with the promising career as a musician still ahead of him, T. Rex founder, Marc Bolan met an untimely death when the vehicle that he was riding in crashed, killing him, instantly.
