A thoroughly silly movie which I don't know why our library system bought.

This DVD movie was entertaining and interesting but not one of my favorite for this year. Not too bad---good performance. Very predictable but still entertaining. I fast forwarded a lot but not all the way.

A darkly comic crime film that ushered in a new wave of British film, as well as an influential team of filmmakers. Released in 1994, this was the first film of director Danny Boyle, producer Andrew MacDonald, and writer John Hodge, who would go on to make "Trainspotting," "A Life Less Ordinary," and "The Beach." All the actors are great, but I especially like Christopher Eccelston. Fans of the Coens will enjoy this. Too bad Boyle won an Oscar and started sucking and Ewan McGregor got lost in "Star Wars." Includes extras.

This was a nice little comedy/film noir/macbre thriller. Three nasty jokers got involved in a crime caper that seemed like a combo of Psycho, Blood Simple, Clockwork Orange, and Double Indemnity. While most critics liked the film (film debut by Ewan McGregor), Roger Ebert thought the three protagonists wanna-be millionaires were too unlikeable for the audience. They were unlikeable for sure, all of them, either without morals or without empathy, but the tension in the last half kept uo my interest.

Pretty good dark comedy that moved a bit slow in the beginning, kept you guessing in the middle and was a complete twist in the end. I enjoyed it an plan on checking out Danny Boyle other works like Trainspotting.

I really enjoyed this movie - I thought that the characters were great & kept you guessing right up to the end as to what would happen.

Shallow Grave is a dark comedy dealing with friendship and greed. Three roommates find their new roommate dead and also find that he had a suitcase full of money. After some indecision they agree to bury the dead roommate's body and keep the money for themselves. Later the police start asking questions and two men stalking the dead roommate come looking for the money. Paranoia starts to set in and all three roommates must decide whether friendship or greed will prevail.

This comedy/murder mystery by director Danny Boyle is fun to watch, but you cannot take it too seriously. Some fairly brutal scenes may not be for those with a weak stomach.

Violence: Plenty of violence, torture and killing in this film. Definitely not for children.
