Add a CommentGreat movie.
A fictionalized, autobiographical story of a young Jewish-American who travels to the Ukraine to find the woman who saved his grandfather from the Nazis. Foer uses humour to approach the topic of the holocaust, and creates an interesting genealogy of the main character to fill in gaps that the main character knows he will never have revealed. (Dec 2006)
I was disappointed in the movie (as one often is). I didn't read the book, but listened to it on audio book and loved it. The performer was wonderful. It was my first introduction to Foer's work. It made me want to go out and read everything he's written.
A funny, strange movie. If you like offbeat movies this fits the bill. Very entertaining.
Superb balance between humourous, poignant, & offbeat elements. The most moving, compelling, Holocaust reconciliation narrative I've ever seen.
