The catalog description is so off-base and irrelevant to the actual story line and plot scenario that one wonders where the cataloguers are at when they're dreaming up some of their descriptions - and how the senior cataloguers allow them to be posted. Yet another catalog entry for the same film - w/ the shorter one word title Amelie, is more accurate in its plot synopsis. Why two different catalog descriptions for the same flim? Who knows? This is from the other catalog entry for the same film: "Amelie Poulain has led a sheltered life, educated at home by her parents, she lives in a fantasy world of her own. When she finally leaves home and finds work as a waitress in a Parisian café, life is uneventful until a chain of extraordinary events leads her to the discovery of a box containing a schoolboy's long forgotten mementos. It is then that Amelie discovers her vocation in life - helping others find love and happiness - which she sets about in her own way. When Amelie falls in love herself, she realizes that making neat solutions is not as easy as it seems. "

Utterly original, funny, charming, and completely romantic, Amelie is a French film for people who can't sit through Truffaut or Goddard. As the movie's namesake, Audrey Tautou is dreamy, devilish, and beyond lovely. After discovering an old box in her apartment, Amelie sets about to find its owner and return it, thus setting off a fantastical chain of events, which lead her on a path to find love and happiness. You'll be drawn into this imaginative little movie and find yourself smiling the whole time. A must-see film for all romantics at heart!

Highly imaginative and idiosyncratic film. Romantic, charming and even rather funny. A film to eat a good box of chocolates by!
