Superb, evocative writing. There is little plot to speak of, and the same characters are examined from 4 different points of view over the 4 novels - each enriches and expands the previous.

So far, I have only read the first two books in this compilation - Justine and Balthazar. Justine was one of the most beautiful, poetic books I've ever read. Reminded me a lot of Michael Ondaatje. Balthazar, sadly, was a little disappointing in comparison. But still a series well worth investing in (and eventually finishing!)
