This is the best book that I have ever read. It is brutally haunting...really heart wrenching. The love story is redemption, but the story of Ash is so much more than the romance. He is such an enigmatic character and to get to witness his secrets, well...I was physically and emotionally bereft at times. I could completely understand his mother's rage, her insanity, her guilt. His is a hard book to suggest others to read because of the abuse...it will change you...it is terrifying. I completely disagree with the statement that this book is too graphic and that it is depraved. It is one honest look at abuse...which is graphic,by the way...it isn't a sanitized version nor does it allude to what happened...it forces the reader to bear witness. His becoming what he always was did not relieve or "cure" what he lived through, so that is clearly not the author's purpose. Listen, this book is not meant to be purely entertaining nor do I think young adults should read it. The author has borne this kind of abuse, and I think she presents it honestly...these are his secrets we are made privy to, and only someone depraved would find them titillating. Ash is so beautiful...read the book if you really want to understand Ash.

This is my favourite of all her books. I just love Acheron. It is dark, but then so is the main character. To fully know and understand him we need to know what he has gone through. I will continue to reread this book...7 times and counting.

The best book by her i have ever read! I'd been looking for Ash's story for awhile and when i found it i was overjoyed!! Now i know why Ash is the way he is and i love him even more for it...Great book for a great charachter!! Must read!!

This book was disturbing in the worst way. I get that the author is trying to deal with the issue of abuse, but there was no need for the extremely graphic and numerous instances of sexual and physical abuse. The only message the author conveys is : if you have been abused it will only take you becoming a god & 11,000 years before you are able to heal. Just...yuck! Completely depraved.

Best book by her yet!!! It was the first of hers I had read and now she is the only author I read!!! I love Ash and the world of the Dark hunters and Dream Hunters and the world she has created in the League series. She is truely talented author and I have since read every book she has written.

Amazing book but would have liked to read it at the beginning of the series

I waited a long time for Ash's story well worth the wait. People new to the Dark-Hunter series shouldn't read this one first. To fully appreciate it read at least six of the other books first.

One of Sherrilyn's superlative works till date. This book surpasses all. An awesome read. The emotional pages are just mind blowing

I was glad to finally read the back story for Acheron. I've enjoyed all the Darkhunter books. This one however.. A lot of repetitvie beating and mutilation. Still... I enjoyed it.
