One cannot get enough of this beautiful love story filmed in Columbia. One however may also find Javier Bardem's character "Florentino" nothing more than a poor soul filled with delusion, obsession and infatuation about Femina as played by Giovanna Mezzogiorno. I personally enjoyed "Love in the time of Cholera."

must read the book first!

All of the performances are terrible, stilted and wooden. I gave up on this movie halfway through.

One of my favorite books, but the movie is terrible. It should have been done in Spanish, and even the producers say that on the behind the scenes. The actors just don't pull it off. The magic of the book and the intensity of the romance is not captured.

Very pretty scenery. Beyond that, not much to get behind in this long, boring romantic drama. I guess the acting was pretty good, but the story was awful. Throw in a geriatric sex scene and you have one of the worst romantic dramas I have ever seen.

If you have read and loved the book, you realize that it is extremely difficult to turn into a movie.
In order to enjoy this movie (and I think it is definitely worth watching) I suggest that you first watch "the making of the movie". I really wish I had done that, because I would have gotten so much more out of it.
Apparently Garcia Marquez approved of the movie and personally I think the critics came down on it way too hard, but again: Come to it with an open mind and expect it to be different from the book.

It's a good show. Need patience, though. Its a life story. Enjoyable.
