Bill Murray is unforgivably cruel as the ruthless and sadistic TV network exec Frank Cross, who is forced to grow a conscience after visits from the ghosts of Christmas past, present and future. While the film gives the viewer those Christmas warm-and-fuzzies in the end, this adaptation of "A Christmas Carol" is a much crueller, much darker, and much funnier re-imagining of the classic Christmas tale.

A manic retelling of "A Christmas Carol" updated to fit the modernized (at the time, that is) crude humour of the fast-paced yuppie culture of the eighties. Although some consider it a family comedy for the Christmas season, its kookiness pushed it off the beating track, inundated with fantasy violence and awkward gags that I'd deem a little rough for the young 'uns. Bill Murray is his usual abrasive self as a TV network exec quasi-Scrooge Francis Cross, but I wouldn't count this film among his best. For hardcore Christmas flick fanatics, SCROOGED might fall on deaf ears with its darkness and meanness, but for those who long for the days of bumbling, fumbling slapstick (a la The Three Stooges), this may be a match made in heaven.

Hubby and I are watching a Christmas movie every night. I am so glad he made me watch this one. I am 31 and have yet to watch this one the whole way through. Very good movie to watch to get into the spirit of Christmas. A must see for Christmas.

Bill Murray is at his funniest, cruelist, sarcastic best here (think Groundhog Day, at Christmas, meaner). Love BM in every movie he does. Wonderful.

It's Christmas Eve! It's the one night of the year when we all act a little nicer... we smile a little easier... we cheer a little more. For a couple of hours out of the whole year, we are the people that we always hoped we would be!

<holding up a mouse> "We're not sure what to do. We've tried everything to get these little antlers to stick. We've tried tape, we've tried glue." "Have you tried staples?"
