Really great series. I grew up in sad, small town Texas, hate football & was opposed to this show on principle (ha!) But you can't judge a book by the cover (or a show by the DVD box) and this is a great example. Beautifully written & acted, you might find yourself addicted to this compelling story.

I liked it so much, I was off to the library to grab season 2 before I'd even finished season 1. Sports is not my "thing", but I picked up this show because I'd heard it was quality, and they were right. While the characters are dumb as footballs, most of 'em, the show itself is reasonably intelligent and very appealing.

Phenomenal show. At its core, it's really about family and community. All the characters are human, with flaws and strengths. A great look at small town life. Also, an all-time great pilot -- just riveting from the start.

I finished all 5 seasons of Friday Night Lights in mere 10 days! That's how much I'm obssessed with this show. I think it's the most underated drama on TV. They should've won a lot of Emmys, especially for the creators as well as Kyle Chandler and Connie Britton. I finished watching the series and left the biggest crush on Matt Saracen <3 Clear eyes, full hearts, can't lose! Texas forever :')

I too was pulled into this show and it is quite good. A little busy perhaps though, every character seems to have some major flaw or something in the closet. Not realistic perhaps but still great to watch. Incorporating classics like Moby Dick, Of Mice and Men and The Odyssey is a nice touch.

This show really reminds me why I desperately wanted to forsake life in a small Southern city. It's all here, all the stuff I hated about small-time places and the people who inhabit them. This town is so claustrophobic and the lives of the people are so shallow and desperate. It's just unrelenting in it's bleakness; no one seems happy or content. This is like seeing the charred remains of a burned-out house I fled long ago. The acting is key, a top-notch ensemble.

Didn't know much about this series beforehand & now I can't believe I'm only now watching it. Extremely well written & acted, it's a captivating show.

this show is so simple and yet so amazing. the music, characters, the setting and of course the football really make this show unique and appealing. probably the only show that depicts the most realistic relationships, lifestyle and life challenges. so amazing :)

As positive as the other reviews are they still don't capture how good this show is. It is that stirring! I recommend to teens and adults who want to see something truly great.

One of my favourite TV series ever. Intergenerational drama about life in a small town where people are human and make mistakes. The Taylors are truly an inspirational couple. Suitable for teens and adults -- viewing may help spawn conversations about difficult topics such as sex, classism, and family obligation.
