Add a CommentI really liked the first 3 but not the 4th. i just couldnt connect with the characters. it was very crued and i couldnt even finish the whole story, i would of helped if here was some sort of back story to go with it ( like a first book)
Briggs's "Alpha and Omega" novella in this anthology is the very first segment of the ALPHA AND OMEGA series. "Cry Wolf," the first full book in the series, takes up just where the novella leaves off. Here are the titles for the series in reading order: “Alpha and Omega” in the "On the Prowl" anthology (2007); “Seeing Eye” in "Strange Brew" anthology (2009); "Cry Wolf" (2008); "Hunting Ground" (2009). A third book is planned for January 2012. This World is the "country" side of the MERCY THOMPSON World. Many of the same characters appear in both series.
Rating is for the Patricia Briggs story, I didn't like all fo the others all that well.
This is a book of short stories and this is how I found Patricia Briggs. It introduces 2 of her main characters who are seen the Mercy Thomas novels. All are excellent.
The short story by Patricia briggs was what I signed this book out for in the first place, I haven't read the others, but Alpha and Omega was a wonderful debut to the other novels in Patricia Briggs's werewolf series. I look forward to reading 'Cry Wolf' which is the continued story for Anna and Charles. :)
There are four short stories in the "On the Prowl" book. The first story "Alpha and Omega" was a well written enjoyable read that continued into a series I have started reading. the 2nd story "Inhuman" by Eileen Wilks was confusing at times and hard to follow. there is a continuation of this story "Night Season" but I have no plans on reading it. It just didn't impress me. The 3rd story "Buying Trouble" by Karen Chance was a decent story that I enjoyed. There is no continuation of this story or I would probably follow it. The 4th story was the most boring, confusing, all over the place made no sense whatsoever story I have ever read. I am glad it was only a short story as even that was hard to get through.
I only liked two stories out of this book, the ones by Patricia Briggs and the other by Sunny. Both of these short stories the author has continued into novels, Briggs the Alpha and Omega series, and Sunny Monére, Children of the Moon Series. Both are good series.
