Rocky Balboa is a struggling boxer trying to make the big time. He works in a meat factory in Philadelphia for a meager wage so he also earns extra cash as a debt collector. When heavyweight champion Apollo Creed visits Philadelphia, his managers want to set up an exhibition match between Creed and a struggling boxer. The promoters are touting the fight as a chance for a "nobody" to become a "somebody". Sylvester Stallone star and wrote the screenplay to "Rocky". As the description of the movie says "He is a million to one shot for the heavyweight crown". Composer Bill Conte should be given credit for a soundtrack that inspires Rocky and thus the audience as well. One of the best boxing movies of all time! Beware of the Rocky movies that followed. They were not on par with the original.

Awesome boxing movie and good story and acting. Awesome! 5 stars!!!

let me guess little scottmunchin and fizer that you two were probably not even born when this movie came out. In perspective to the time it was gutsy and independent to stallone himself, so figure why it won when it did. Look at most films during there period, the 70's were a hugely transitional period for everything. Nowadays we're just inundated with crap. ooooh vampires

Rocky's hot, hot, hot! :) I was never bored in the movie. It definitly has humorous parts. Sly delivers, what can I say? :P Everyone must pick-up this film, I think we can all be pleased with it's absence of the norm inexperiened boxer to profesh boxer clichés. You know what I mean? ;)

A classic for sure, some glaring prop faults, but certainly an excellent story, well told and executed on film.

Not a particularly brilliant film, but not bad at all.
