This book was released in 1941 and on page 165, Feber writes: "I just thought I would twit you with it" and twit (as a verb) means to taunt or ridicule. This makes me think of Twitter in today's terms. It's an interesting read, especially the historical time period for New Orleans and Saratoga. A saucy gal, a plucky Texan and an assortment of interesting characters makes this a fun novel. The only drawback is that Ferber uses a lot of French and doesn't explain the terms or words in English so if you don't speak French, you may get annoyed.
